Among all three groups, students were the least willing to change their behavior. Despite understanding and acknowledging the problem of air pollution, most of them do not want to give up the car in the future. The students also noted that they do not try to use public transport more often and stressed its inconvenience and prestige. At the same time, poor upbringing, “mentality” and lack of promotion of eco-conscious actions were recognized as one of the most important causes of environmental problems in the group of students.
Lack of strategic planning at the state level is considered one of the main causes of environmental problems in all groups. Also, all participants in the discussions mentioned poor awareness of environmental problems and the inability to influence them. In groups of family members and activists, the absence of a system of punishment was considered more important than the promotion of environmental behavior. The activist also stressed the poor performance of public utilities. Instead, students cited “private business interests” as one of the main causes of environmental problems.
